A new handbell team for beginners

12 Mar

(Edit: new date for the taster session. Come and try a genuinely collaborative form of music!)

Have you ever heard handbells being played and thought you would like to try this lovely activity? Or perhaps you have never heard handbells and would like the opportunity to hear and try them for yourself. If so, we have the answer: a new handbell team for beginners.

Under the guidance of Barfield’s new musical director, Graham Hedges, you will be able to:

  • Learn to ring music on handbells
  • Discover the special techniques for varying the sound of the bells
  • Enjoy making music with a small group

There will be opportunities to play with the full Barfield team. Also, as progress is made, members of the new team will be offered the chance to join the full team if they would like to do so.

There will be a taster session 7.30 – 9pm on Wednesday 14 September at St Mary’s Church, Church Gate, Thatcham RG19 3PN, followed by weekly practices on Wednesday evenings for those who would like to continue. For more information, e-mail dianne@barfield.org.uk, or just come along on 14 September and give it a try.
